New day, new drama! Such a fresh new story that's both cute and short. Yes, I admit I am the type of person that will judge a book by its cover... so why can't I do the same for movies?! After browsing for around for a filler drama as I wait for new episodes of  "The Story of Minglan" to release. I came across this. With just a whopping 20 episodes this just might be the perfect light-hearted drama to watch. This drama is packed with comedy and the typical dramaland craziness.

So much eye-candy, feast your eyes, ladies! Instantaneous shipping between the main leads. I can't wait to see more dramas with him in the future. Ling Yi Zhou is a very low profile CEO of a big company. He has an earnest fan following and is mistakenly believed to be gay. By chance, he meets the main actress lead, Xia Lin. They then both enter a contract marriage and he begins to fall for the quirky young actress. 

Simona Wang as Xia Lin 

Native Name: 王双

Known for: The Condor Heroes (2014), Beauty Maker, and The Four (2014)

She's just too cute and quirky! I love her character and she brings lots of laughter. It's nice that she's finally landed the main role. I was so surprised when I was reading her profile, especially since she can act and she's so pretty. Oh wells, I will be following her for more dramas in the future. Simona plays a 23-year-old newbie actress that just started her career. On her way to her audition, she calls an uber and mistakenly takes CEO Ling's car as her uber car. CEO Ling keeps quiet and allows her to get in and drops her off at her audition site. After the audition, she faints and finds out that she has leukemia. Upon hearing the news, Xia Ling is dishearted and sad, the doctor then tells her that there is a match for her, but the donor is unwilling to donate their bone marrow and wants to stay anonymous. Fast forward, she finds out that CEO Ling is her match and that is how their story unfolds...

Ian Yi as Chu Yan

Known for: Stardom and Men with Sword

Ian plays Ling Yi Zhou childhood friend. Ian is a senior actor at Xia Lin's company and many people believe he is entangled in a love triangle with CEO Ling and CEO Ling's personal assistant, Wen Li. He initial reaction to Xia Lin is utter dislike, but eventually, he warms up to her. On the outside, he appears to be carefree, but beneath the lighthearted silliness is a lonely and oppressed character. His relationship with his dad is the root cause. 

Yang Hao Ming as Nan Jin Tian

Native Name: 杨昊铭

Known for: Xiang Long 

Wow, I can't believe he's only 19 years old! He is a newbie actor, this his second drama. I think I will try to catch his first drama after I am done with this one. So far his character his holding lots of secrets. He seems to have a grudge against our beloved CEO Ling. Yet, Xia Lin's warm and kind nature is causing him to warm up... seems like we might have a love triangle beginning. By the just of the above photo, it seems like Xia Lin's assistant will be going head-on against him to protect our kind heroine. 

Huang Qian Shuo as Wen Li 

Native name: 黄千硕

Huong Qian Shuo plays CEO Ling's law-abiding personal assistant. He is rumored to be gay and being secretly in love with CEO Ling. After Xia Ling and Ling Yi Zhou get married he invites Xia Lin's best friend, Jia Fei to be his roommate. This seems like the start of second couple romance, especially since Jia Fei thinks he's gay. He is loyal to CEO Ling and is always there when Ling Yi Zhou needs him. 

Liu Jia Xi as Jia Fei

Native name: 刘贾玺

Liu Jia Xi is a newbie actress. In the drama, she plays Jia Fei, Xia Lin's best friend, and former roommate. Jia Fei is also a part of CEO Ling's fan club. Fei is the that gives Xia Lin crazy ideas about CEO Ling's sexual orientation. Her personality is straightforward and bold, she eventually moves in with Wen Lin after Xia Lin gets married. Her relationship with Wen Lin is hilarious since she mistakens him as a gay guy (no offense intended). 

知否知否应是绿肥红瘦 - The Story of Ming Lan 2018

Yes! Another Zanilia (Li Ying) Zhao drama. I am such a sucker for any drama or movie that has her in it. Ancient period dramas are not really my thing especially when politics are linked to it. However, this is the drama that should not be passed up. As always both Zanilia and William Feng did a great job. So far I am on episode 62 and yes things are climaxing to the extreme!!! However, I have high hopes that this drama is going to have a killer ending. With an estimated 73 episodes, each episode is going to leave you wanting more. Along with an appearance of two killer leads, this drama is sure to bring joy, laughter, and a roller coaster of other emotions. 

Both Viki and Youtube have active subbers subbing in English, so there's so reason to jump on this bandwagon. Moreover, many Youtube channels are uploading this drama with Vietsubs too! 

As I have said, this drama had killer leads, but more or less the supporting actors and actresses are stunning as well. So let's have a look...

Cast: 

Zanilia Zhao as Sheng Ming Lan (6th Sister) 

Native Name: 赵丽颖

Known Roles: Legend of Lu Zhen, The Mystic Nine, Rookie Agent Rogue, and Princess Agents

As a fan of Zanilia, the main reason I watched this drama is because of her. With a number of hit dramas under her belt, I did not mind taking on a 50+ episodes drama knowing that she was playing the lead. In the drama Zanilia plays Sheng Minglan the youngest and illegitimate daughter of the Sheng Family. After her mother dies, Minglan is raised and loved by her grandmother (I promise, I am not spoiling anything). Clever and beautiful, Minglan taught to be mindful of her actions in order to survive and avenge her mother. though brilliant and talented, Minglan must hide her wits and talent in order to secure her life. Again, Zanilia does not disappoint her role, you can see the progression and growth of her character through each episode. 

William Feng as Gu Ting Ye (2nd Master/2nd Son)

Native name: 冯绍峰

Known Roles: Palace Lock Heart, Prince Lin Lang, and Ice Fantasy

Truthfully, I am not much of a William Feng fan, but I have nothing against him or his acting. However, after watching this drama, I will be looking out for more of his dramas. Also, the eye-candy factor helps too! William plays the second son of the Gu family. Although his mother is the legitimate main wife, his father only married his mother after the main wife passed away. William's character is headstrong, resilient, and cunning. I got to say both he and Zanilia have a lot of chemistry, so I am not surprised that they are married. His character brings laughter to the audience, that removes most of the heavy political and family tension that it holds. 

Zhu Yi Long as Qi Heng

Native name: 朱一龙

 Known Roles: Border Town Prodigal and Royal Sister Returns

For a second was rooting for him and had second lead syndrome... watch the drama to find out why. I seen him in Royal Sister Returns and truth be told, he did not have enough charisma to pull me into becoming a true fan at that time. However this time around, hands down he did a great job! His acting has improved a whole lot and he played his character very well. Yi Long plays Qi Heng the only son of the Duke Qi and his princess wife. He is considered the desired bachelor based on family background and personality. Both him and Minglan are each other first love. Throughout the drama, you can see the growth and changes in his character's personality to style. 

Minglan's older siblings from her dad's first and main wife. I love all of the first wife children, as they treat Minglan as a real sibling. Wang Herun as Sheng Hualan is the eldest sister and wisest of them all. Wang Renjun as Changbai is the second eldest brother and is Gu Ting Ye's best friend, he is both intelligent and humble. Both as a friend and brother, he is dependable and kind. Karlina Zhang as Rulan is Minglan's fifth sister. She, on the other hand, is more mischevious out of the bunch, but she is straightforward and honest. 

Zhang Xiaoqian as Sheng Changfeng is Minglan's third brother from concubine Lin. He is not as bright as his older brother nor scheming as his younger sister and mother. Shi Shi as Sheng Molan is Minglan's fourth sister, possessing both intellect and drive. She is scheming and conniving just like her mother. 

Liu Jun as Sheng Hong (Ming Lan's Dad)

Blinded by his love for his concubine, he shows no care or love for the poor Minglan.

Cao Jifen as Old Mrs. Sheng (Minglan's Grandmother) 

She plays the main role in shaping Ming Lan's behavior. She loves and protects Minglan like a mother cub. 

Liu Lin as Wang Ruofu (Main Wife/Minglan's stepmother)

Direct and loud, she is easily overpowered by Lin concubine. Although she is Minglan's stepmother, she has never mistreated Minglan. Her direct personality constantly puts her in trouble. She is a funny character and brings a comedic tone to the serious pace of the drama. 

Gao Lu as Lin Qinshuang (Concubine Lin)

Looks can be deceiving, her gentle and weak appearance houses only trouble and schemes. Both vicious and calculating. She is one of the first people and experience that taught Minglan to careful and mindful of her survival.

Wang Yi Nan as Lady Qin

This all-around villain is Gu Ting Ye's stepmother. She is Gu Ting Ye's father third wife after his mother died and sister to his father's first wife. Beneath her kind and Buddha-like demeanor, is all schemes and wickedness. Her plots and plans are endless and she leaves behind a trail that spells trouble. All in all, the cast in this drama will be an endless summary, but each has a place of their own. The story is intriguing all on its own and each person is a powerhouse character. 

双世宠妃 - The Eternal Love 2017 (Shuang Shi Chong Fei)

So far I am loving this drama. Unlike typical Chinese dramas, this one is progressing at a good and fast pace. It doesn't take at least 20 episodes until the main couple actually gets together and the concept is pretty fresh. The cast consists of many fresh faces that I have never seen before except the main male lead who plays Yue Qi in Princess Agents. I have high hopes for how this drama will end. With only 24 episodes, I think it a must watch if you enjoy soul-switching dramas. It is an online drama that is adapted from the novel Hilarious Pampered Consort: Lord I Will Wait for Your Divorce written by Fan Que.

Xing Zhao Lin as Mo Lian Cheng [8th Prince] 

Native name: 邢昭林 

Known roles: Back to 20, Princess Agents 

I would be lying if I said that I didn't watch this drama because of him. As a drama lover, I like to watch something with familiar faces. I was very shocked at his acting since this is his first time as the main lead. He did an excellent job playing Mo Liang Cheng. Especially given his experience in acting, the only major role he played in this drama was as Yue Qi in Princess Agents and even in that drama he barely had any scenes. I will continue to look out for more dramas with him in them.

Liang Jie as Qu Tan Er / Xiao Tan

Native name: 梁洁

Known roles: My Girlfriend's Boyfriend, Go! Goal! Fighting!

Hands down she is so talented. She plays a modern real estate sales person in the modern world whose spirit mysteriously gets transferred to the past and is trapped in Qu Tan Er's body after she tries to commit suicide. The way she switches back and forth between two completely polar opposite personalities is flawless and effortless. Her character is so funny and there are many modern day references. I am looking forward to her future projects. The chemistry between her and Zhao Lin is another upside.

Wang Richards/ Wang Rui Chang as Mo Yi Huai [1st Prince] 

Native name: 王瑞昌 

Known roles: The Visioner

He plays the bad boy brother of Mo Liang Cheng and is Tan Er's ex-boyfriend. He can hold his role well and clearly outlines that his character is ambitious. I can't believe both him and Zhao Lin are only nineteen, They are so talented; he needs more projects. For some reason, he reminds me of Jackson Wang.

Zhong Qi as Qu Pan Er

Qu Tan Er's older half sister (the first wife's daughter). She is married to Mo Yi Huai and even though he has no feelings for her.

Xin Rui Qi as Zhao Qing Yun

The Queen Dowager's niece and is in love with Mo Liang Cheng since they were young. 

Sun Yi Zhu as Jing Xin

She is Qu Tan Er's maid and is very loyal to her and befriends Xiao Tan. The first person to find out about the two spirit in one body thing.

Ariana Rose

Ariana Rose

My second Malay drama after watching Rindu Awak 200%. It was overall pretty good, I would give it a 3.5/5 stars for both the cast and story. Even though I didn't like most of the characters, the story was interesting and I would totally watch another Malay drama. You can check it out on Viki, it is fully subbed. 

Nur Fathia as Ariana Rose

This is the first drama I have seen her in, she is an decent actress that has a way of making you want to continue to watch (sounds weird but ...). At times I would hate her character and then I would sympathize with her. All in all,  I mainly kept on watching till the end because of her. Throughout the whole drama I loved all her traditional Malay attires. 

Keith Foo as Adam 

Ugh.... I hated his character so much in the beginning! Watching him play the rich playboy was frustrating because he seemed more like a jerk than player. But he has a way of making the audience feel what is character is feeling. To sum it up, I would give him a 3/5 stars for is performance.

Hisham Hamdi as Harith

I felt so bad for him because he sacrificed a lot for Ariana and he truly loved her. But, it wouldn't be a typical Asian drama if the second male lead got the girl right?! I wished he ended up with someone, because he really is a sweet heart. 

Nabila Huda as Kate

She is all bad news. Hated her so much, she is so annoying. I couldn't thank the directors enough for taking care of her. I hate how she mixes english with malay. She's like a B-rated version of Blair Waldorf wannabe.

I'm addicted to this song, they totally mad it worth the wait. Can't really say much since I'll probably ruin it for you.

The music video is AWESOME!!! I loved the shadow tattoo on the shadow guy and the ending was a little creepy but good.

(Yoseob fan please do not bash me for this)  but his hair was not cute in this music video. Also I hated the earring they 

were wearing, it did not look cute. Anyways at least it did affect their image they still look tough and hot.

借用一下你的愛 - Borrow Your Love (Jie Yong Yi Xia Ni De Ai)

(New Thing) RATE: 8.5/10

So far I'm in love and hooked to this drama! The plot had a major twist of fate and made me self doubt myself in the first few episodes. Although the downside was probably Xie Ping An's haircut- okay technically it didn't affect the drama but it just bothered me a whole lot. All the actors and actresses did a fabulous job. I love Dylan's bad ass look in the first episode and his fear of bows is hilarious. Can't wait till Viki finishes subbing a finally few episodes. If anyone knows where I can watch the rest subbed in English or dubbed in Vietnamese please comment or message me, thanks beforehand.

Amanda Zhu as Xie Ping An

Like I said before her haircut really irritates me.On the other hand her role is super cute most of the time, while other times she's extremely annoying and dumb. I feel really bad about her character since she's so nice to Xie Xi Le, but Xie Xi Le is beginning to be mean and harsh towards her. Her and Dylan's character have the most adorable chemistry. Sometimes she reminds me of Jandi from Boys over Flowers- so bold and tough. At the same time her clumsiness is so funny. She's so 

cunning and too cute to actually hate.

Dylan Kou as Ye Chen

Love his character, he's handsome and vain but inside he's soft-hearted and loving. He's every girls best friend. The scenes with Dylan and Amanda are super funny and cute. I love how he's always there to protect Amanda and her mom. He's such a good fighter -bad boy alert, except his fear of bows totally throws-off his bad boy image. It makes him seem more human and normal. I feel bad that he spent 6 years in prison for a crime he didn't even commit, and he never even got to see his sister after she died. I almost wanted to cry- its such a touching story.

Cherry Hsia as Xie Xi Le 

After she was acknowledged she kind of became a bitch and I absolutely hate how she see acts like she's so freaking desperate in front of Le Ze Wen. I'm just like if you want him that bad might as well just lock him up. She pisses me off especially when Amanda's character is being nice- I understand that her character has a right to be mad at Amanda's character but she shouldn't be bitching at her- she should understand that Ping An isn't so bright and she's childish. Although, I feel bad that 

she's being used.

Shin Yi Nan as Li Ze Wen

I feel bad for his character since he comes from a rich family but in the end he loses everything and his parents commit suicide, leaving him with a big debt. I'm not exactly sure why he's taking revenge on Bai Ming Li, but I assume its probably related to his family going bankrupt and parents committing suicide. He's such a jerk for using Xi Le to extract his revenge. But I feel like he's slowing going to fall for her or he's trying not to since she's Bai Ming Li's daughter.
